Gogmagog
← Named Giants · Tradition, myth and folklore · Glossary: Named giants
Last and greatest of the giants said to inhabit Albion before Brutus of Troy landed. Wrestled and thrown from a cliff at Plymouth by Corineus. Turf-cut figures of Gogmagog were maintained on Plymouth Hoe into the seventeenth century, and Gog and Magog effigies still stand in the London Guildhall - a legend with a continuous physical footprint.
Named in Greek, Roman, Norse, Islamic, Celtic and Asian tradition. Recorded as tradition, not asserted as history.
