Angels seeded to heavens 8 and 9 — the zodiacal realms — and the traditional twelve-angel zodiac roster.

What this count now measures

This row counts angels assigned in the database to heavens 8 and 9. It read zero until 2026-08-17, because the twelve zodiac angels had been seeded to heaven 5 by a hardcoded value applied to the whole batch and never revisited.

Heaven 5 (Mathey) declares its inhabitants as “Watchers; Grigori” — the order that fell at Mount Hermon. Filing the zodiac angels there was not a neutral placeholder; it implied something false. They now sit in heaven 8 (Muzaloth), whose declared inhabitants are “Cosmic intelligences” and which 2 Enoch describes as the changer of the seasons, holding the twelve houses.

This is an editorial mapping by this app, not an attested placement. The roster is Renaissance angelology and knows nothing of 2 Enoch’s ten heavens — no source puts Machidiel in Muzaloth. The choice was never sourced against unsourced; it was an incoherent unsourced placement against a coherent one, and this is the coherent one, labelled.

Heaven 9 (Kuchavim) still holds none. That is a genuine gap in the seed data, and it is shown rather than hidden.

Where the twelve-angel roster comes from

Machidiel, Asmodel, Ambriel, Muriel, Verchiel, Hamaliel, Zuriel, Barbiel, Advachiel, Haniel, Cambiel and Barchiel are not scriptural. The roster is late-medieval and Renaissance angelology — Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy (1533), transmitted most widely through Francis Barrett’s The Magus (1801). The app tags them accordingly.
