Historiography First hand

Named by Pliny the Elder as the tallest man of his own age, brought to Rome from Arabia under Claudius. Pliny wrote the Natural History as a work of record and states the figure directly - the earliest named, dated, non-mythological giant claim in Western literature.

Named individuals reported by a named ancient or medieval historian who states where, when and how large. These are records of a claim, not verified measurements.
